Hoda Kotb Once Said…

Hoda Kotb was born on August 9, 1964. Hoda is an Egyptian American broadcast journalist, television personality, and author. I remember mornings watching the Today show and always looking forward to the third hour with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, now Hoda hosts it with Jenna Bush Hager.

People think that you have to do something huge, like go to Africa and build a school, but you can make a small change in a day. If you change Wednesday, then you change Thursday. Pretty soon it’s a week, then a month, then a year. It’s bite-size, as opposed to feeling like you have to turn your life inside out to make changes. – Hoda Kotb

Hoda has very wise words regarding making changes or trying to help create change. It is less often done with big gestures like building a school but with small things like changing ones mind, seeing someone as an equal, sticking up for someone, changing little things little by little and talking about those changes, spreading the word to see if it catches on. Paying it forward, being kind to someone and maybe they’ll be kind to another and another. Start a movement. Be part of the change.

Your greatest test is when you are able to bless someone else while you are going through your own storm. – Hoda Kotb

I have found that when I have been going through some of my most difficult times those that actually allowed to help someone because I have always liked being able to do something for someone else that needs help…when allowed I feel that I do very well and I get relief from my strain as they also get help with theirs. Not everyone is capable of being able to do so but I am.

Sometimes you have to take the focus off of you and put it on someone else and its funny what you can accomplish and how much strength you really have. – Hoda Kotb

When you find yourself frustrated with trying to get through something in your life sometimes it is very helpful to just be able to concentrate on something else, someone else and sometimes if you’re lucky you’ll find that certain situations will resolve themselves. There are things that do take time and you do have to allow yourself time to be able to heal from grief and traumatic events. There’s no short cut or rushing them, you have to let the process happen. There are many things one can do to help distract you that will also probably help one being keeping a journal of your thoughts and pay attention to when something is bothering you and what happened prior, what you were thinking or doing so you can see what has a triggering affect. Avoidance isn’t the key either, working through things is best and does take time. You’ll get stronger as you work at whatever it is. People are very resilient, much more than they believe. I know this because I am living proof of that.
