As an artist this is something that is a constant thing that happens, we think about something and visualize the way we want it and think about how to do it and try to perfect it in our heads before we start. Some concepts are easier and freer and others take time to gain their foundation. This also goes for storytellers, musicians and comedians as well. They’ll sometimes get part of what they want to write, play or a punchline and then the other pieces arrive to form the idea.
Monet’s quotes definitely resonate with me as does his art. As an artist I feel that in my life I watch a lot, I observe things that others may not and reflections have been fun for me as well in art and writing. I use light and reflections to obscure the way you see something or make it clear what your focus is.
I think that this way of thinking or observing is important. If you strip something of what you know of it as one can allow the object to be reset in your brain instead of what we’ve been taught what it’s like. If we’re told lemons are sweet, strawberries are spicy and milk is tart or learn bananas are blue the influence of them will change. If you’ve never felt how soft a rabbit feels would you know how to describe it. I think part of the artists brain is to play tricks on people or to get them just to see in a different way.
