Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was born on February 4, 1913 and died on October 24, 2005. Rosa was a civil rights activist.
We don’t know if we will succeed or fail if we fail to even try. One thing we can do if we do fail is to try again. I’m not saying we shouldn’t ever fail or not be given the opportunity to do something again but there is something that one learns when one doesn’t succeed. And you will never know it without trying it to begin with. I think these days that just doing something over and over again such as school and tests, I think there should be some exceptions in being able to do a test over but I think that if you fail, you fail. If overall you fail at something you should have to repeat that class (all of it) instead of just being able to repeat it again and again. Some may argue what is the difference? You should be asking why did it change? What is the point of changing it more recently and in the past it was a different way? Who is to say that we’re learning more efficiently. I think we learn more if we fail it entirely and have to do it over rather than repeating it until you get a better score.
I think it’s ridiculous that this happened to begin with…what I mean by that is why did it become a thing that someone of a particular race couldn’t sit with another race? We’re all human and we deserve to be treated equally and with respect. Regardless of our race, religion, gender, sexual preference or whatever it is that makes us different. We cannot change the past but we can make sure that our future is different and if you think that there doesn’t need to be any change you’re not seeing things for the way they are. And if you accept things the way they are you may want to ask yourself is it really fair? Is it really equal? Would I treat my best friend this way?
This is why I like being a writer, an artist and a photographer. These things are living things that don’t have an expiration date. Sure they can be destroyed and deleted but now with the internet and sharing things have a way of lasting longer than they used to. They also gain more exposure so my art, my photography and my writing can be viewed and read for future generations. Hopefully when they read upon this things will have changed for the better instead of worse. Only way to know is to let it age and to look back upon it and look at why I chose to write about Rosa Parks. Who was she? What was her message? Has that message been heard and has that changed or are there still remnants of it in today’s society. And if so what are you going to do about it?
